HOPE IN HOLIDAYS FOR HEAVY HEARTS

The holidays  are approaching quickly. Holidays are happy times, memories, and gatherings for friends and families. Holidays are also hard times and heavy hearts for many, especially those who have loss loved ones. Usually when one loses a loved one the initial pain is not easily described but it is a pain that lingers day after day, month after month, year after year, and during holidays it may get worse. There is no set time or day when this pain goes away. Does it ever go away? For myself, initially it is a roller coaster ride, then it eventually changes but never goes away. As it changes it allows me to take a step at a time, a day at a time, a month at a time, a year at a time, and a holiday at a time. It allows me to hold tight to the memories of my loved ones in my heart, body, mind, and soul.  I am writing this post to all who may experience heavy hearts during the holidays. I am forever keeping my family and friends in my heart, thoughts, and prayers. There are many experiencing heavy hearts, knowing the holidays are approaching and loved ones will not be with us physically and celebrating the holidays. Healing of the hearts occur as we cry, continue to celebrate with family and friends, bring flowers to burial sites, hang an ornament on the tree to represent our loved ones, place a setting at the table, talk  and laugh about something our loved ones always said or did, etc… Remember no one can ever take our precious and priceless memories away from us.Red Roses and Water Drops

For me each holiday is different, some I can celebrate with family and friends and others are extremely hard. I never know which will be hard or which I can celebrate. There are a few persons who say, “What’s wrong with you? It’s been years and you have not gotten over that yet?, etc…”. They do not know my pain and it is nothing they can do or say to make it stop hurting. or make me feel the way they think I should feel. I thank them for trying but I also want them to respect my feelings, pray for me and be there when I am ready to talk and/or make a move.

I know throughout each loss and throughout my life’s journey, I’ve developed a closer relationship with God. I am grateful, appreciative, and thankful for all He does… using me, molding me, guiding me, protecting me, and loving me. I depend on Him to help me all day and everyday. He never lets me down and is always on time.  It is through Him I found my talents,  strengths, weaknesses, purpose, and passion in life. My purpose in life is to help others…inspire, motivate, encourage, and give words of wisdom to others as they encounter difficult and challenging times in life. People are my strength and weakness in various situations and circumstances.  I have a big heart and I love, genuinely care, respectful, listen, laugh, give hugs, offer my shoulders, understand and try to relate. My passion is teaching and learning. My talents are arts and crafts. With all that being said…my relationship with others relieves some of my  pain experienced due to loss of loved ones. I try to keep busy, live, and enjoy life with family and friends that are with me physically, not ever losing hope to see my loved ones again and always remembering those precious and priceless memories in my heart, mind, body, and soul. I pray that you find hope and enjoy the holidays soon!

Revelation 21:4

and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

Psalm 46:1-2

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;    Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  “Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls.  “For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.”    1 Peter 5:6-7

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4

Revelation 21:4

“He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

Psalm 46:1-2

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;

Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  “Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls.  “For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.”

1 Peter 5:6-7

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you.

Psalm 31 NKJV
23Oh, love the LORD, all you His saints! For the LORD preserves the faithful, And fully repays the proud person. 24Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the LORD.

Psalm 119:48-50 NIV
I lift up my hands to your commands, which I love, and I meditate on your decrees. Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.

Jeremiah 29 NKJV
11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NIV
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 NIV
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

I PRAY FOR HOPE & PEACE DURING THE HOLIDAYS FOR ALL WITH HEAVY HEARTS

This is not only about my drama, your drama, but worldwide drama. It is the topic of discussion through media and everyday conversations. WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON? We have innocent males, females, adults, geriatrics, teens, babies and children killed, drug dealing, drug related crimes, black on black crimes, other crimes, bullying in the school, university, and college settings, suicides, suicides/homicides, child abuse, domestic violence, kidnapping, robbery, carjacking, emotional, verbal and, physical abuse, racism, discrimination, shoot first and ask questions later, drug abuse etc… things that are somewhat in our control.

I ask again, WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON? I do not have all the answers but I know we all can make a difference in these situations, issues, & circumstances. First we have to recognize that these issues are worldwide. We may not be able to solve the issues everywhere, but we can definitely start in the society in which we reside. “It takes a village to raise a child.” “It takes each and every one of us to make a difference when and where we can”.

DEATH OF A SPECIAL FRIEND

DEATH OF A SPECIAL FRIEND

English: Red Rose (1st Day)

Image via Wikipedia

Yesterday someone notified me of the death of a special friend. Initially, I was speechless, then I started asking many questions, but there were no answers. Thoughts, memories, and emotions took over my mind, body, soul, and heart. My mind racing; my eyes filled with tears; my heart ached; my body numb; and my soul searching. I do not know if this feeling is normal or not, but it is what it is. As I reminisce down memory lane, I thought about the last time I saw your face (unique smile, expressions of joy, happiness, and laughter, and still trying to flirt). As I continue to travel down the lane, I see memories of many special years of my life; it was the first for this, that, or another with you. I see your family; who I always consider as my family; happy times, laughing, loving, caring, sharing, sadness, and pain throughout the years. I continue to smile, laugh, and cry. I will remember you as I last saw you. My heart will forever hold that spot you left over the years. Rest in Paradise.

CONGRATULATIONS TO NEW REGISTERED NURSES; MY COLLEAGUES

An oil lamp, the symbol of nursing in many cou...

Congratulations to new registered nurses; my colleagues. Welcome to the nursing profession. You have entered a profession that is very rewarding and exciting; given the right personality. This profession will enlighten you with much knowledge, skills, and understanding; that you will incorporate into your nursing practice.

Now you will start: applying information; thinking critically; making clinical judgments; developing awareness of ethical and legal concerns; being a patient and family advocate, and learning and participating in teamwork. Take the iniative to learn and do all you can; get involved, participate, observe, and ask many questions.

Nursing is a profession that requires much of those who pursue it. Never forget the reasons you became a nurse and entered the profession. It takes certain qualities to be a nurse and all of us possess them; some forget; some may lose them. However, always remember the qualities you possess; first as a person, then as a nurse. A few of these qualities are:

  1. Caring
  2. Empathetic
  3. Detailed-Oriented
  4. Emotional Stability
  5. Adaptable/Flexible
  6. Physical Endurance
    Call Nurse
    Call Nurse (Photo credit: gusset)
  7. Quick Critical Thinker
  8. Proficient Judgment
  9. Hardworking
  10.  Excellent Communication Skills
  11.  Compassion
  12.  Culturally Diverse
  13.  Professionalism

Nursing is a difficult profession. It can also be challenging, stressful and overwhelming; but nothing that you cannot handle. Be mindful of lateral/horizontal violence in our profession; do not become a victim or perpetrator of this behavior.

In your nursing career, you carry your skills and knowledge wherever you go. There are nursing positions available globally for qualified nurses from every ethnic and religious background. There are also various settings to practice nursing; not just the hospital.

There are various areas to practice nursing. To mention a few: schools, office, pediatrics, medical- surgical, geriatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, and newborn infants, operating room, critical care and emergency departments, mental health.  There are many sub-specialty nursing areas such as sports injury nursing, oncology, cardiac care, newborn, children, and adult intensive care, transplant and transport nursing, etc…

You may choose to work in a permanent setting as full-time, part-time, or PRN (as needed); as a travel nurse; or for an agency. You also have the choice of working for the government; advocating for health care needs for everyone.

Or you can take advantage of opportunities for continuing education; become a nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nurse educator, researcher, or a nurse manager. The sky is the limit.

There are several of reasons we became nurses… don’t let any obstacles stand in the way. Remember, we touch souls, save, and change lives. Now dive in and make a difference!

A Few Prayers for Nurses:

First, a beginning of the day prayer:

Holy one, as we begin this day, I ask for your guidance.
With your divine hand, Inspire, lead and give thy wisdom.
Throughout this day, may your grace be ever present in this healing place.
Bless our team, our hospital, our unit, as we gather to help those in need,
Let not your help be far away.
We seek your strength and ask that you give spirit as we make decisions for the good.

SEARCHING WITHIN – SELF-REFLECTION

SEARCHING WITHIN

(SELF-REFLECTION)

Cover of

Cover of Merriam Webster Dictionary

Self-reflection defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary – “Mental concentration; careful consideration”. A thought or an opinion resulting from consideration”. “Something reflected or the image so produced, as by a mirror”.

Self-reflection is achieved with a deliberate action. By it being a skill, it can be learned; however, it is not easy. Self-reflection is skill that should be performed on a daily basis. It is a reflection, which reflects on behaviors, situations, and circumstances; relating to all aspects of our lives and the lives of others. Self- reflection promotes a new awareness which provides insight. Self-reflection improves teaching and learning, promotes growth and change. It may also provide direction, promotes peace and understanding to life. Self-reflection focuses on past, present, and future journeys.

Self-reflection is the willingness to reflect on our desires, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, mistakes, failures, weaknesses, and find meaning in our lives; it’s like observing yourself in a mirror. We all have the ability to do so. The magnitude of self-reflection supports the solutions to our freedom and suffering.

Reflection

I do not claim to be perfect, but with self-reflection, I will try to be a better person, mother, wife, sister, cousin, aunt, niece, teacher, and friend; throughout life journey.

Questions

Questions (Photo credit: elycefeliz)

A few questions to reflect:

  1. Who am I and what do I stand for?
  2. Where am I going in life and how will I get there?
  3. How do I feel? How would I like to feel? What can I do to obtain my desired feelings?
  4. How do I treat others? How would I like to treat others? Am I treating others as I would like to be treated?
  5. What kind of friend do I want to be? What type of friends do I want?

So many questions! So much reflection! So much to learn and teach! So much to change and understand!

Questions?

Questions? (Photo credit: Valerie Everett)

We need a guideline, directions, compass, map, etc… to accomplish anything in life. This is the point we develop/set goals. If we do not have goals; we have nothing to work toward. Always remember the obstacles, trials, and tribulations we have overcome. We should also remember our great moments and triumphs. These are motivators to keep us striving towards the accomplishment of our ultimate goal.

In order to get to best results from self-reflection: Remain objective, look at the situations and circumstances from various perspectives, consider different possibilities to avoid past and present errors in the future, and dedicate time and energy to improve. Self- reflection provides us with control of our past, present, and future; it promotes action. Self-reflection without action is a waste of time.

Done with Mirrors

The next step in the self-reflection process:

  1. Prepare time for the purpose of self-reflection
  2. Utilize an area and environment that is quiet, clean, serene, and limited to no distractions.
  3. Focus on questions, thoughts, situations, feelings, circumstances, and behaviors which will assist us to examine our lives and reflect.

Writing is also important in self-reflection. Writing provides time for our minds to constantly work on things, after thinking about them. It promotes more reflection. It’s a journal of thoughts for more considerations.

Self-reflection is crucial to obtaining wisdom and wisdom materializes from knowledge and experience. Wisdom is different and unique to each person.

EQUATIONS: (Jackson, 2005)

INFORMATION + EXPERIENCE = KNOWLEDGE

KNOWLEDGE + EXPERIENCE + REFLECTION = WISDOM

“Without reflection, experience is not cumulative.” Unknown

So now, let’s start our self-reflection journey; as we tour the path, we will realize that the awareness, ability, and desires are gifts and blessings of change.

SELF-REFLECTION QUOTES:

William L Shirer
Most true happiness comes from one’s inner life, from the disposition of the mind and soul. Admittedly, a good inner life is difficult to achieve, especially in these trying times. It takes reflection and contemplation and self-discipline.

Norman Vincent Peale
One of the greatest moments in anybody’s developing experience is when he no longer tries to hide from himself but determines to get acquainted with himself as he really is.

Sarah Ban Breathnach
Only when the clamor of the outside world is silenced will you be able to hear the deeper vibration. Listen carefully.

A battle lost or won is easily described, understood, and appreciated, but the moral growth of a great nation requires reflection, as well as observation, to appreciate it.

WHITNEY HOUSTON’S DEMISE AND IMPACT ON MY LIFE

WHITNEY HOUSTON‘S DEMISE AND IMPACT ON MY LIFE

Whitney Houston - InStyle Magazine Pictorial [United States] (January 2010) - 454 x 583      image photo : Whitney Houston        image photo : Whitney Houston           image photo : Whitney Houston

I usually do not watch television, but if the television is on; it is usually on the Food Network or LMN. When I heard about Whitney’s demise, I had many emotions and thoughts rambling through my mind and body. I was sick, it felt like I wanted to throw up, cry, and crawl in the bed. I had a lump in my throat, and emptiness in my heart. No, I did not know her personally, but these were my feelings and thoughts. It was real and sincere. Tragedies do not only happen to the rich and famous, but in all walks of life. It hurts regardless, who the person may be.

I was angry and confused about various comments made about Whitney. Did we forget she was only human too? She had many of the same problems some of us may have. Many of us have addictions, it may not be drugs, but what about shopping, drinking, smoking, gambling, over eating, not eating, exercise, prescription medications, etc… Again, who are we to judge? She was a child of God; she was created by God; she was not perfect, but human. She sinned just as many of us, we ask for forgiveness, just as she did. She loved the Lord; just as we do; she prayed, just as we do; she had shortcomings, just as we do; she had trials, tribulations, and struggles, just as we do, etc…

From the day and time of her demise, I have been attached to CNN, watching and listening to everything about Whitney. I could not change the channel, I had to see and hear every little thing. After a few days, I thought something was wrong with me? Why not change the channel? What am I going to miss? I really could not think of any reasons I felt this way. I’m not sure if I had memories that I refused to think about. Was it because Whitney was one of my favorite artists? Was it because I sort of grew up with her and loved her music? I could not figure it out.

I watched Whitney’s Celebration of Life Funeral Service more than once. Why? I still could not figure it out. While watching the celebration, I was very attentive, involved, observant, quiet, sad, heartbroken, and confused. What in the world happened? Did she know she was going to die? Why didn’t someone help her? I have so many questions but no answers. Unfortunately, I may never get the answers to my questions; but I have to let go and let God do his will; according to the plan He has. One thing I know for sure is that Whitney loved God and so many others. She was also loved by many. Some described Whitney as: a beacon of light, an angel, a ribbon in the sky, great and beautiful, one of a kind, an incredible soul, and God-fearing.

I described Whitney as:

W – Warm, welcoming, worthy, wonderful, worshipper of God, & wealthy

H – Heart of gold, heavenly, heroic, historic, & helpful

I – ICON, impressive, incredible, irreplaceable, & impact on others

T – Thankful, Thoughtful, Tremendous, trendy, truthful, & touched by God

N – Nice, notable, noble, & nurturing

E – Entertaining, extravagant, exceptional, encouraging, enthusiastic, & exemplar

Y- Youthful & young at heart

In my opinion, Whitney was all of the above and so much more.

I was glad the Life and Celebration for Whitney was live on television. It was awesome, amazing, inspiring, encouraging, and phenomenal. The artists performed in the service were also awesome and strong; to include a few: Mass Choirs “Grateful”, Donnie McClurkin “Stand”, BeBe Winans “I Really Miss You”, CeCe Winans “Don’t Cry For Me & Jesus Loves Me”, The Winans family “Tomorrow”, Alicia Keys “Send Me An Angel and Whitney was an angel”, Rev. Kim Burrell “Personal rendition of A Change Has Got To Come”, R. Kelly “I Look To You”, Stevie Wonder “Personal Rendition of A Ribbon In The Sky and Love’s In Need Of Love”, and Rev. Marvin Winans “Let The Church Say Amen”. There were tributes by: Tyler Perry stated “Whitney loved the Lord; it was Grace that carried her through her journey, and nothing separated her from the love of God”. Rev. Joe Carter stated “Today is Your Day Whitney and we Will Celebrate and Have Church”. T.D. Jakes stated “Thanks to the family for sharing Whitney with us and Love is Stronger than Death”. Rickey Minor stated “He loved Whitney and the reasons may be because of her voice, hairstyles, outfits, music, style, grace, and her smiling face. He also stated Whitney changed his life forever by trusting him with her career”. Clive Davis stated “In 1983 he was shattered by Whitney’s version of The Greatest Love of All. He also states Whitney was a beautiful woman; one of a kind; had true talent, heart and soul; the Lord was her life, and music was her passion; she lived and loved music, She will raise the roof in heaven”. Dionne Warwick cited a poem; that related to her feelings “Don’t Grieve For Me; for now I am free”. Kevin Costner stated “He and Whitney had a commonality; they were both raised in a Baptist Church. He said Whitney was always concerned if she was pretty enough, good enough, and would people like her? Today he told Whitney, your were great, beautiful, and people loved you. He gave words of wisdom to young girls as Whitney would say; guard your bodies, and the precious memories of your heart, and sing your heart out”. Patricia Houston stated “This is a celebration of Whitney’s time on earth and her life as a sister, daughter, mother, and friend. She stated there were time Whitney did not feel good, but she gave, gave, gave, and gave some more. Now she is set free from; pain, sorrow, crying, and struggles. Whitney left her legacy of music and love for God. Rest peacefully in the Lord’s presence.” Rev. Marvin Winans performed the eulogy “He talked about the Bible being the manual for life’s performance. He talked about a land where we will never grow old; making decisions based on God; walking according to what you believe; and live according to God, by making Him first in your life”. At the end of the eulogy, Rev. Marvin Winans started singing “Let the Church Say Amen” and everyone joined in the song. It was a Celebration of Life that will always be remembered.

I believe at the end of the Life and Celebration of Whitney, we all realized she was going and not returning. The Gold Coffin way raised and placed on the shoulders of the pall bearers. On the way out of the church with the coffin, Whitney’s song, “I Will Always Love You” was playing. It really hit home for me and many others. I lost it and it took a while to get myself back together. Again, I asked myself, what is wrong with me? By this time, they were placing her gold coffin in a beautiful Gold Hearst. It was over, all ended; she was physically gone; except the tears, sadness, heart ache/pain, emptiness, and sorrow.  The same God that carried Whitney will also carry her family, friends, and fans; through it all. The same God that blessed Whitney with grace and mercy will bless them with grace and mercy also.

I do not know what they felt, but I know how I felt, then I realized; I have gone through this process on several occasions. The loss of my mom in September 1998, my brother October 1998, my first husband May 2000, another brother February 2008, my dad July 2009, and my first cousin and one of my best friends July 2010. My mom and dad both died of cancer. It was my God given responsibility to care for them and be with them as they took their last breath of life. My other loved ones were unexpected tragic deaths. However, all of them were tragic to me. There are times I compare my emotions to a roller coaster. I never know when I will be up, down, or all around. Whitney’s deaths brought back so many memories and much pain; I had secured in the back of my mind. However, I do cherish and treasure the precious and priceless memories of my loss loved ones in my heart. It is only God’s Grace and Mercy that gets me through every second of each day. Thank You God!

My Aunt Maria, whom I love dearly, brought situations and circumstances to my attention. She helped me realize the reasons for my feelings and actions. She said to me “Cynthia, there is one other thing that comes to my mind. I am not sure where in the Bible it speaks of the various seasons. However, look that scripture up and read it and ask for God’s guidance”. She also said “Cyn your feelings about Whitney’s tragedy is only human. Our family has gone through something similar. We are all trying to figure out what went wrong? As for yourself, you have gone through a great deal of tragedy in your life. I am speaking of persons that were very dear to you. These things should not go unnoticed. Personally, I speak from the heart, you have done real well. Keep seeking the Kingdom of Heaven (God) and all else will be added unto it. Remember, even though it is hard, we have to move on, (and you have moved on). Don’t give up now, you have come from a might long ways. You have given back in many ways: I commend you, you are genuine. Hebrews 11:1- now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Keep the faith. Love You Aunt Ria”.

Thank you God for my Aunt Ria; she always have inspirational and encouraging words that I need to hear. She always knows how to make me feel better and look at things, situations and circumstances in a different perspective; one that is practical and true. Regardless of what she is going through, she always put her concerns, feelings, and emotions on the side to help others. She is an awesome, amazing, and special person. Thank You God also for my family and friends; they are all Blessings in my life. They are my presents from You and I Thank You Again!

Even though I am sad, heartbroken, and confused; I do know God’s Grace and Mercy will continue to see me through all that I encounter throughout my life’s journey. I cannot do anything without Him. I feel a little better already; God works in mysterious ways and He is Always on time. Thank You God.

To Whitney Elizabeth Houston and my loved ones; I say rest in paradise and know that “I Will Always Love You”.

DO YOU LOVE MUCH, A LITTLE OR AT ALL?

image photo : Love and Support/eps

LOVE MUCH

DO YOU LOVE MUCH? DO YOU LOVE A LITTLE? DO YOU LOVE AT ALL?

The reward for love is the experience of loving. —John LeCarre

It bears all things, believes all things, and endures all things. Love never fails. —1 Corinthians, 13:7-8

So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love. –1 Corinthians, 13:13

Love Much, again, words and actions. What is the definition of love? Merriam Webster’s Dictionary defines love as, “a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties; attraction based on sexual desire; affection and tenderness felt by lovers; affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests; an assurance of affection; warm attachment, devotion or admiration”. A few synonyms for love are: “affection, attachment, devotedness, devotion, fondness, or passion”.

Merriam Webster’s Dictionary defines like as, “to be suitable or agreeable; to feel adoration toward or take pleasure in to feel toward; regard; to wish to have; want to do well in; having qualities in common; to approve; to feel inclined; choose or prefer”. A few synonyms are, “comparative, correspondent, ditto, matching, resembling, similar, similar, such, or suchlike”.

A few of my opinions/definition, actions, thoughts, and expressions on “love much”. When I think of the word “love”, family, friends, and a few others in my life come to mind. There are many times I try to “love much”.  Honestly speaking, there are times it is hard to “love much” for various reasons, I know that is not correct, but again I am human and I am a work in progress; therefore I may “like much”.

“Love” is another word some use so loosely. I wonder if they mean “like instead of love.” I believe “love” is a strong word, a heartfelt feeling/expression/experience with behaviors that demonstrate “love.” If “love” is present, I believe it is usually demonstrated in actions/behaviors. It is great when someone says they, “love you”, but what are their actions? Do they act loving?

There are some you may start “liking” but as time moves on, “like” grows and blossoms to “love”. I think “love” should be mutual; a two way street. If it is not mutual, someone may get hurt; mentally, emotionally, and physically.

In reference to relationships, I believe there should be a discussion between the persons about the relationship. What are you looking for? Are you already involved in a relationship or marriage? Is this a rebound relationship because you just ended a relationship and you need a distraction to get through that situation? Are you just looking for a friend, commitment, companion, or just someone to be intimate with? Both should be on the same page and if this is not what you are looking for, then it would be the time to accept it for what it is or move on to find what you want in a relationship. Many do not realize the seriousness of toying with someone’s heart.

Everyone deserves genuine love, respect, honesty, trustworthiness, communication, understanding, having each others’ best interest at heart, and compromising in their relationships. Again it should be mutual; 50/50 or 100/100. A relationship is an experience that needs constant work and much communication. It’s a great an awesome experience to love and to be loved.

In reference to family; I “love much”, my love is strong, constant, consistent, forgiving, and everlasting. I know there are times of anger, confusion, and disagreements between family members but the love is still present, it’s always in our hearts, minds, and souls. Families are special Godly and Blessed bonds. Yes, we say things or do things to each other that hurts; but after it is over, we are still family and we still “love much”. Sometimes families do not understand each other or they may not even know what the other is experiencing; it is sad and it hurts, but we are still family. Sometimes family members judge and talk about each other, but why? Who are we to judge or talk about each other?  I believe if families would be more considerate, supportive, demonstrate love and concern, the world would be so much better; families would be so much better also. Life is hard for everyone, many are struggling (emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially), so why can’t we be there for each other? We are family/ not strangers, we love/ not hate or dislike, we support/ do not put down, we communicate/not judge, etc… I love my family with all my heart; I think about them often and pray for them many times during the day. However, I am at fault because I do not call them as I should. Again, I am human and a work in progress. But if my family calls me, I am sooo excited to hear from them. Sad to say, I am not usually the one to initiate the phone call. I can say “time” is the issue, but is that an excuse? One thing I can say, if my family needs me; I am always available and on the spot.

In reference to my children (young adults), spouse, and sister there is “much love”; because we see each other often, share many priceless and precious memories, and spend much time together. It is also our God given responsibility; to love unconditionally, support at all times, provide as needed, understand any and all situations and circumstances, communicate effectively and honestly, to be trustworthy and dependable, committed and devoted to each other and care for each other; if we don’t who will? We have a mutual bond/relationship; I pray and hope it will be forever and always.

In reference to friends and “love” it is a mutual and two-way street relationship, about people who care about each other.  Friends provide support and comfort in good times and bad. Friends are also precious and priceless. Friends uplift spirits, makes each other laugh, and remind each other that they are loved. Friends are genuine and honest; you feel comfortable with them and know each others’ shortcomings and love anyway. Friends don’t lie to each other, they do not intentionally hurt each others’ feelings, and they can share opinions. Friends have a solid foundation and they can talk through disagreements; they compromise and agree to disagree. Friends have honest and effective communication; they can forgive and move on without any negativity. There is an enormous amount of trust between friends and it is easy to share feelings and life details; knowing it will not be repeated or thrown back in each others’ face. Friends respect boundaries and develop a balance in the relationship. They take time to nurture and balance their friendship.

Families and friendships are blessings from God; they are to be cherished and treasured eternally. Both require: God, much love, nurture, work, strength, endurance, patience, understanding, communication, commitment, devotion, genuine trust and honesty, and perseverance.

WHAT DOES LAUGH OFTEN MEANS TO YOU?

LAUGH OFTEN

WHAT DOES THESE WORDS MEAN TO YOU?

Laugh often are also words and actions seen throughout life’s journey; in various circumstances and situations. I hope you are not caught up with the trials, tribulations, struggles, confusion, and stress of your daily life; that leaves no room for smiling, laughter, happiness, and feelings of joy? If so, you have to give yourself permission to smile and be happy. Otherwise, you build a hard wood fence around you, and become apathetic to the blessings that create smiles, laughter, happiness, and joy.
What does laugh often means to me? Well, since I am a person always smiling and laughing; it means the world to me. Laughter is good for my mind, body and soul. Smiles make a difference in my life and the lives of others. I believe it is important to be strong so that nothing or nobody can interrupt my peace of mind. I believe that happiness and prosperity  a topic to every person I meet. I want to ensure that all my friends, families, peers, colleagues, and acquaintances feel that there is something worthwhile in all they say and do. I want to look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism a practical reality. I want to think only the best, do my best, and to expect only the best. I will be as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own. I will forget the mistakes of the past and move on to greater achievements of the future. I will try to wear a cheerful expression and give a smile to everyone I meet. I will invest my time to improving myself. I want my heart, mind, body, and soul to be too enormous for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to allow the existence of trouble. Smiling happens without much thought. When you watch someone do something silly or embarrassing; a genuine happy thought, memory or sound, you smirk. Smiling is a very natural response that shares our happiness with others. How often do you smile in a day? Do you smile when you meet new people? When you see your family and friends? Around your peers, colleagues, or acquaintances? How about your spouse or significant other? Your face has 44 muscles in it that allow you make various types of expressions, many of which are smiles. There are many reasons why I smile. To include a few: Smiling makes me happy (even when I’m not). Smiling makes others happy and inspires them too; seems like when I smile the whole world smiles with me; smiling seems to be contagious. Smiling makes me more attractive; I look my best and happiest when I smile. Smiling helps to decrease my anxiety and reduces stress; smiling can do wonders. Beautiful natural smiles can increase my chances for success, also help me to obtain a job because employers associate smiling with likeness, confident, conscientious, and stability. Smiling promotes laughter; it’s hard to smile without laughing. Smiling makes me feel good; it’s natural; it makes me feel happy and it definitely beats frowning. Smiling, laughing and feeling joy, promotes good health, and helps you live a longer, happier life. Smiling is an essential part of life. Smiling is a blessing because it informs others about our personality; promotes interactions with others and meeting new friends; demonstrates that we are approachable and sincere; it is an amazing, awesome, and empowering asset. I have so much to smile and laugh about in my life, it’s a blessing; thank God! Therefore, it is important to smile and laugh often! Turn your frown  upside down and smile.

When you give a smile away; you get one back to keep.

LIVE LIFE! WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU?

LIVE LIFE!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO ME?

A couple of words and actions; so what does this mean to me?

I see these words everywhere; post it notes cards, plaques, ink pens, wallets, etc… Well, what does these words and actions mean to me? I also have a plaque with these words on my office door. First of all, these words and actions are inspirational, motivational, and encouraging to me; they remind me of my daily actions. It’s like a to do list; I must live life to the fullest daily. I don’t know which day will be my last, therefore I have to enjoy each second of every day. Living life is also about being happy and content with me; who I am, my weaknesses and strengths, what I have become, the direction I am moving, the things I have or don’t have, and spreading my happiness throughout my life to others.

Live Life: Live life, know my purpose in life, know my dreams, goals, desires, visions and aspirations in life and reaching for it! I am a natural go getter; what I want, I do not sit back and wait for it. I pray about it and do my best to achieve it. I get knocked down, pushed around, and stepped on but I get back up stronger, wiser, and ready to move on and forward. I do not let anyone or anything stop me. Of course again, I run into trials, tribulations, struggles, and setbacks, but they are only temporary. Life is hard, but it is harder if you do not have a vision and work hard to accomplish the goals that lead to you vision. I enjoy being a lifelong learner.  I enjoy, love, and possess a passion for teaching and learning. I enjoy my career because it is rewarding; in the profession of nursing I get the opportunity to meet, teach, learn, listen, help, care, and touch lives. I feel I can impact many lives by assisting, supporting, encouraging, motivating, praying, and cheering them to move closer to their visions. I can help a patient feel better and provide them with excellent, quality, competent, and safe care and support a family member during a difficult time. It does not have to be a student, patient, or patient family member; it may be my family member, a friend, colleague, peer, acquaintance, or someone in the grocery store, post office, etc… that I could help make their day better. Living life is not just about my life, but about helping others in their lives in various situations and circumstances. Helping others to move on and forward, deal with struggles, trials, tribulations, and the many challenges that we may encounter, and attempting to be successful in reaching their goals, dreams, and desires. What an awesome, rewarding, happy, and blessed experience and opportunity to see others achieve their goals in life’s journey. We also have to realize that we may not always be successful in some aspects of our life, but its okay; we must continue to search, examine, pray, work hard, and still move on and forward during difficult and challenging times. Living life is also about family, friends, people, love, peace, joy, happiness, blessings, and making each minute of each day count for something worthy and special. It is important for me to thank God every day because; if it was not for Him, I would not see each day. He watches, keeps, comforts, and protects me as I sleep, and wakes me up every morning to see a new, blessed, and beautiful day.

I enjoy listening and reading books and quotes from motivational speakers Maya Angelou, Iyanla Vanzant, Susan Taylor, Yolanda Adams, Nikki Giovanni, etc…

A few inspirational quotes from Iyanla Vanzant:

“The only way to get what you really want is to let go of what you don’t want.”

“Your willingness to look at your darkness is what empowers you to change.”

“Remain open. There is something bigger than you know going on here.”

A few excerpts from Maya Angelou’s poems:

Still I Rise

Out of the huts of history’s shame – I Rise

Up from a path that is rooted in pain – I Rise

I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide.

Welling and swelling, I bear in the tide.

Leaving behind nights of terror and fear – I Rise

Into a daybreak that is wondrously clear – I Rise

Bringing gifts that my ancestors gave.

I am the dream and the hope of the slave.

I Rise, I Rise, I Rise

I Know Why Caged Bird Sings

A caged bird stand on the grave of dreams, his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream, his wings are clipped and his feet are tied, so he opens his mouth to sing. The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown, but longed for still, and his tune is heard on the distant hill, for the caged bird sings of freedom.

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size. But when I start to tell them, They think I’m telling lies. I say, “It’s in the reach of my arms, The span of my hips, The stride of my step, The cure of my lips. I’m a woman. Phenomenally, Phenomenal Woman, That’s me”.

Now you understand just why my head’s not bowed. I don’t shout or jump about, or have to talk real loud. When you see me passing, It ought to make you proud. I say, “It’s the click of my heels, The bend of my hair, The palm of my hand, The need of my care, Cause I’m a woman. Phenomenally, Phenomenal Woman, that’s me”.

Live life to the fullest in all you do.

Be forever true.

Remember life is a series of steps. Each step leads to great, amazing, and awesome surprises and some with peaceful and blessed conclusions.

What does LIVE LIFE mean to you?
